Discover the Secrets of Buttermilk Pancake Recipe

Have you been looking for a buttermilk pancake recipe and have not found the one that is perfect for you? The same with me, I have wanted to make perfect buttermilk pancakes for my children. Every time we eat at out favorite café to eat pancakes, we are so impressed on how their pancakes look. As for me, I always wish that I can make pancakes like those.

I was tired of using the ready mix pancakes that you buy from groceries since they can’t provide the taste and appearance that we want from pancakes. So, I started to look for buttermilk pancake recipe from different cook books, magazines and the internet. I have tried so many recipes before I was able to find the best that provided the perfect pancakes that my family wanted.

With some alteration to suit my taste, I came up with my own basic buttermilk pancake recipe. From the basic recipe, I was able to make different versions by adding fruits, nuts, and chocolates.

The Basic Buttermilk Pancake Recipe

Here is the recipe for my basic buttermilk pancake recipe. The first secret in making perfect pancakes is the use of buttermilk instead of ordinary milk. Buttermilk makes the pancakes fluffier.

Ingredients:

2-1/4 cups   all purpose flour

½ cup white sugarButtermilk Pancake Recipe

2-1/2 tsp. baking powder

½  tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. fine salt

2 pieces eggs (whole)

2 ¼ cups buttermilk

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1/3 cup melted butter

Procedures:

1: Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
2: In another smaller bowl, beat the eggs. Add the buttermilk, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix until well blended.
3: Make a well at the center of the dry ingredients and slowly pour the wet ingredients while slowly whisking to blend the mixture. Be careful not to overmix or you will have a flat pancake. The batter should be a little lumpy and not very smooth.
4: Place the batter inside the refrigerator for about thirty to forty five minutes to rest.
5: Heat a nonstick frying pan on medium heat. Brush the pan with vegetable oil.
6: Spoon ¼ cup of batter and pour into the heated pan. In order to have perfect shape, I usually use metal round molder that you use for frying eggs. Once you see bubbles on top of the pancake, flip and cook until light golden brown in color.
7: Repeat the procedure until you finish all the batter.

Tips in Making Perfect Buttermilk Pancakes

Even if you have the perfect buttermilk pancake recipe, but if the pancakes do not look appetizing, your family might not even eat them. In order to make them look good on the table, this I usually do,

• I spread butter and sprinkle with white sugar the top of the pancakes as I pile them while baking.
• After I have cooked everything, I get a big plate and make stack of different heights. The first stack is about ten pancakes, the second eight, and the third stack is six pancakes.
